Serving our policyholders since 1891.

Financially sound protection for Kentucky homes and farms — from a mutual company owned entirely by the people it insures.

A mutual company

Owned by our policyholders, not by shareholders

Hurst Home Insurance prides itself on providing financially sound insurance protection at the lowest cost possible to its members. Rates are stable and often go years without being increased. Because we are organized as a mutual company, we are owned entirely by our policyholders — any profits are retained for the benefit of the members or may reduce future premiums.

The Hurst Home Insurance office at 189 North Upper Street, Lexington — yellow brick with a teal door and bronze plaques

Since 1891

Founded by farmers at the Carlisle courthouse

On July 13, 1891, a group of Kentucky farmers organized a mutual protection association to fight unfair claim practices and excessive premiums. More than 130 years later, we still work from the same office we built at 189 North Upper Street in Lexington — and we still answer our own phones.
